Windows Live Hotmail POP and SMTP server… finally!

Even if I prefer Google’s Gmail (I’m even using it as a mail client), as an ex Hotmail user I think that this news deserves a mention: (Windows Live) Hotmail POP3 and SMTP servers are finally available for mail clients!

You can now download your email from Hotmail with your favorite mail client, without using third-part software like FreePOPs.

Useful even for those MSN Live Messenger users that don’t use Hotmail

Earlier I said that I don’t use Hotmail; but I’m a MSN Live Messenger user, and my contacts usually send me some messages to my Hotmail inbox, thinking that it’s my primary email account.

And thanks to new Microsoft POP server, I can receive my hotmail mail directly in my Gmail web client, without checking Hotmail’s web site for new emails. :) Here is a screenshot (click for details):

Hi,
The server sais that my account doesn´t have pop3 service, What can I do?

I am config as per aganist idea, but does’t work properly hotmail

I tried your settings and it does work with outlook express
2003 but not in windows mail.
I can now bring in my hotmail
